Billy V has been in radio for 25 years. Some say he has the face for radio (lol just joking Billy V!).2003 Japanese Magazine Interview“Iʻve been having the time of my life in radio. Times have changed, the radio industry and the technology it uses has changed, even the audience at times has changed; but one thing remains the same: Radio has been fun from day 1, and it continues to be fun every day I step in front of the microphone”.Billy V has been on radio stations KKON AM 790, KCCN 1420 AM, AM 650 KORL, Krater 96FM, KCCN FM 100 and now on Hawaiian 105 KINE. He has also been heard weekly on “Zip Night in Motion” (1999-2001) Zip FM 77.8 Nagoya, weekly on “Wiki Wiki Hawaii” (2003-2005) which was heard on Tokyo's InterFM, Nagoya's Radio Ai, Osaka's Love FM & Fukuoka's FM Cocoro; short programs on J-Wave 81.3/Tokyo and specials on NHK Japan and Las Vegas.
Hawaiian 105 KINE has been wonderful from the standpoint of promoting Traditional Hawaiian Music, Culture, Lifestyle and Awareness. Itʻs more than just playing the next song in the rotation, itʻ reminding those that are of Hawaiian lifestyle their kuleana of taking care of the language, the land, the surrounding oceans and each other. Exploring how every day news and events impacts our lives as people living in Hawaiʻi, and how we can help each other get thru it.
Itʻs about how we can teach our kids those values that were taught to us by our kupuna. Letting the keiki know that they can be brought up in a world where aloha is shared with one another, where we can all get along, and enjoy this place we call paradise, and how to share that with the visitors that come here and in some part, the rest of the world. Itʻs all these things and more that being a part of Hawaiian 105 KINE represents.
Before it was about the music. Nowadays and with this station itʻs becomes so much more. Itʻs the difference between formats and stations, between living here in Hawaiʻi and anywhere else in the world. Itʻs about our world class athletes, our scholars, our teachers and firefighters, and everyone who enjoys Hawaiian music.
